Description |
Roman sarcophagus of Seia Marcellina, probably re-used as the tomb of Saint Mauro, before his translation to the cathedral. It reports the following funerary inscription: SEIA T(iti) F(ilia) MARCELLINA SIBI ET / VIBENNIO MARCELLINO FILIO / VIVA POSUIT. / QUOD VOLUIT ET POTUIT, QUOD POTUIT ET VOLUIT “Seia Marcellina, Titus’ daughter, erected (this sarcophagus) when she was still alive for herself and for her son Vibennius Marcellinus. She did what she could and wanted”. |
