In Dymi there is a great religious tradition with lots of Byzantine monuments such as the Holy Temples of Metamorfosi Sotiros in Aghiovlassitika, Koimiseos Theotokou in Ano Achaia, Agiou Georgiou in Kamenitsa, Agiou Nikolaou in Niforeika and Agiou Dimitriou Badha in Petrochori which is a Byzantine church of 12th century renovated in 1750.
In the Municipality of Larissos there is a unique forest and some hydro biotopes protected by International Treaties. Also there is the Monastery of Agiou Nikolaou in Spata( beginning of the 19th c.) with a miraculous icon.
In the Municipality of Olenia, a neighbouring area of Dymi, there is Gyftokastro the best preserved Frankish castle of Achaia (polygonal with water tank in the middle) and a Mycenaean cemetery in Portes.
In the east of Olenia there is the Municipality of Tritea where the traces of the ancient city of Triteia (in Agia Marina) can be seen. There are also some monasteries; Koimiseos Theotokou Notenon in Skiada, Agion Panton in Velimahi(built between 1715 and 1728) |
